Whether you are in the camp that claims Saint Cloud was named after the same-named city in Michigan, or in the one that swears it was named for the Saint-Cloud area outside of Paris, France, Saint Cloud is an area to remember.
Situated just 12 miles south of the Lake Nonaregion--with its remarkable Medical City, houses are much more affordable here. Orlando International Airport is approximately 20 miles away.
The old town has streets named after plenty of U.S. States (hint: no French geographic names exist, to this observer's eye!), that intersect with your basic 1st through 17th numbered-named streets. Saint Cloud is also home to beautiful and newer, expansive communities such as Stevens Plantation, Harmony (34773), and Sawgrass, to name a few.
Florida's Turnpike will keep your coming and going pretty easily and travelling fast. Exit 240 will put you directly into Saint Cloud; and heading North, you can exit at US Route 192. Your SunPass further makes your travel easier, while also keeping you blissfully unaware of the cost of your tolls, as most agree it's a small price to pay for the good travel opportunity.
In short, Saint Cloud offers a beautiful place to live with the general region being SouthEast of Orlando. Prices will be a little less expensive in this area, and land a little more ample. Housing opportunities abound, whether you are looking for a newly built home in a fiber optic serviced community, or looking to revamp a 1940s bungalow in the old town. And main routes will get you to your destination fast!
For your recreation, besides the major amenities of Orlando, Lake Tohopekaliga (Toho) will offer you some of the finest bass fishing in the world.
